Struggles between the flesh and the spirit. I thought it was only me who has this problem. Little did I know, every Christian actually goes through this constant struggle? The struggles made me feel that I am weak, defeated by flesh countless times, portraying incompetency of my spirit for the Lord. But I picked myself back up, to strive and win the battle for our Lord God. So, here I want to share something that might be new or might be just another reminder to my fellow brothers and sisters of Christ.
The influence of the flesh is powerful. However, it could be overcome. Nothing is impossible, when God is on your side. Rather I would say, one would have to be on God's side to win this daily struggle of a Christian's life. Christians are not weak just because they face such problems daily; rather, it is because they chose to go against what the flesh says, contrasting with the worldly peolple who succumb to the works of the flesh. A christian must choose to stand on where Christ stands. The lost does not struggle as they have only one single nature, the flesh. This I would relate to the worldly people who does as the flesh says, uttering words that are far too harsh and judgmental; conceiving corrupted yet wicked thoughts and having hands that do the work as what the flesh says.
The fight of the Christians is not flesh and blood. I would also like to add that this is a spiritual warfare. "For we wrestle not against the flesh and blood," wrote Paul, " but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" -Ephisians 6:12-
Therefore, I would say: it is boldness to stand in the name of the Lord to go against what the world people does. To uphold the daily challenge that others refuse to do, but rather they to succumb to it. The flesh always tries to take over the spirit of a Christian, but let us not give in by not sowing into it, walk after it and depend on the strength of the Lord. Remember, that the joy of the Lord is our strength.
Oh Lord God in the highest Heavens, may thou give us Thy strength so that we may live for Thou and glorify Thy name.
**FOOTNOTE**The post above - I would say, a strong conviction upon myself. In fact, it is more like a guilt trip that the spirit stirred up in me. So, brother and sisters, let us not act, think and speak like the Gentiles did. We have been called to be the salt and light of the world, whats is the use if the salt loses its taste. Shouldn't it be thrown out and be trampled by the feet of men? (1) Let's by obeying this, so that we can make a distinct line between us and the worldly people. Jesus once said this "We are in the world, but not of the world" (2). Our victory is imminent. Goodnight and God bless.
P/S: Sorry that I can't recall where are the scriptures (1) and (2) found. But I shall post it up when I have found them. Not sure whether scripture (1) has the exact words but as I remembered, it is something close to as what I wrote.
